Amanda Fitzsimmons is a privacy and cybersecurity litigator who represents technology companies, consumer platforms, and organizations operating in data-intensive and highly regulated environments. She handles high-stakes disputes and investigations involving data practices, biometrics, and AI-enabled products and systems. Her work includes defending class actions alleging unlawful data collection and biometric privacy violations, as well as advising companies responding to cybersecurity incidents and data breaches.
Amanda previously served as head of legal at Salt Security, where she led commercial and privacy functions in a high-growth environment. She also managed significant bet-the-company litigation and regulatory investigations as the head of commercial litigation at Coinbase. These in-house roles give Amanda a practical understanding of business risk tolerance, operational constraints, and the need to make fast, informed decisions, which she now leverages to help clients navigate complex legal issues.
Before her in-house roles and joining Jones Day, Amanda was a litigation partner at a global law firm. She played a leading role defending a Fortune 10 technology company in multiple privacy class actions, including one of the earliest cases involving voice-activated technology, and developed a novel dismissal strategy that resulted in the successful resolution of a BIPA (Biometric Information Privacy Act) class action.
Amanda also has experience in antitrust litigation, including defending class actions and government investigations involving competition issues in technology and consumer markets.
Amanda is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, US (CIPP/US) and AI Governance Professional (AIGP) and a frequent speaker and author on privacy litigation trends, biometric and AI regulatory risk, and incident response strategy.
