Edward Chang represents blue chip clients in connection with high-profile and sophisticated data breach, ransomware, and other cybersecurity events and is regularly recognized as a top U.S. cyber lawyer. Ed also represents institutional clients in complex high-stakes consumer and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on cybersecurity/privacy class actions, complicated business disputes, and regulatory matters. He has served as lead counsel in hundreds of individual, class/mass actions and arbitrations, government investigations, and other "bet the company" disputes. Ed also provides strategic advice to clients on their most sensitive cybersecurity and privacy needs, including to C-suites and Boards on M&A, PR, and crises management issues.

Ed is currently defending clients in dozens of individual and nationwide mass/class actions and regulatory investigations. Significant recent engagements include obtaining complete dismissals of 500+ pending mass arbitrations against a well-known specialty retailer; obtaining complete dismissals in multiple privacy class/representative actions brought against major vehicle OEMs (original equipment manufacturers); representing a large fast-food chain in a nationwide data breach class action, obtaining an individual/non-class settlement after years of litigation; an online retailer in a nationwide technology class action, precluding all class claims; a prominent homebuilder in multiple nationwide product defect class actions covering millions of homes, defeating class certification; a medical device manufacturer in numerous class actions, foreclosing class claims; an information services company in class cases alleging deceptive marketing practices, obtaining complete dismissals; and a telecommunications company in a bellwether class action, obtaining a favorable appellate opinion. Ed also represents companies in significant international and domestic disputes, including in a recent action where he obtained an eight-figure U.S. judgment against a family of international companies.
