Mexico City Government secures MX$4 billion for tourism infrastructure to host 2026 FIFA World Cup

Jones Day advised the Mexico City Government through the Ministry of Administration and Finance, in connection with the legal design and implementation of a private funding scheme for MX$4 billion granted by BBVA Mexico, for the renovation and/or remodeling of urban infrastructure to promote tourism in Mexico City, in light of its designation as an official host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mexico City has been designated as an official host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting five matches to be held between June 11 and July 5, 2026, including the tournament’s opening match. These events are expected to bring more than 5.5 million tourists to Mexico City.
