Amy Kläsener is a seasoned international arbitration partner with deep experience in engineering and construction disputes in the nuclear, energy, chemical, and manufacturing sectors. She also advises frequently in software development and M&A disputes. Amy takes a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach to dispute resolution. As a U.S. lawyer based in Europe for over 15 years, she has developed a deep understanding of multiple legal cultures.

Amy advised on one of the first and largest arbitrations involving the construction of a nuclear power plant and one of the first M&A arbitrations involving warranty and indemnity insurance. German clients seek her counsel regarding international disputes, as do U.S. clients navigating complex German and European legal issues. Amy has served as sole arbitrator and president in International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and German Arbitration Institute (DIS) arbitrations in English and German.

Amy is passionate about innovation in the delivery of legal services, including by deploying diverse teams and harnessing legal technology, process, and project management techniques. For example, she collaborated with Daimler to create a knowledge management tool for the in-house legal department. She also partnered with the IOTA Foundation in the 2020 Global Legal Hackathon to accelerate development of a health passport app.

Amy is editor of the GAR Guide to M&A Arbitration (3rd ed. 2020). She lectures at the Universities of Bonn and Frankfurt. From 2008 to 2010, she served as secretary to the IBA Rules of Evidence Subcommittee tasked with revising the 1999 IBA Rules of Evidence. She is co-editor of the GAR Guide to Evidence (2021).
