Vishal Khatri is a globally recognized patent litigator and co-chair of the Firm's ITC area of focus. With nearly 25 years of experience representing technology companies in high-stakes Section 337 investigations, Vishal focuses on leveraging intellectual property rights to help technology companies achieve their business objectives, particularly in cutting-edge industries where exclusion orders and supply chain leverage can reshape competitive dynamics. He has extensive experience litigating patent disputes before the ITC and in federal courts in technologies areas, including 4G & 5G cellular communications, Wi-Fi, GPS (Global Positioning System), semiconductors, memory devices, TV transmission, LEDs (light-emitting diodes), optics, medical devices, automotive technologies, consumer electronics, graphics processing units (GPUs), and emerging technologies such as fintech, blockchain, and artificial intelligence (AI). Vishal also advises clients on strategic issues involving standard-setting organizations, standard essential patents (SEPs), and RAND/FRAND (fair, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory) licensing.
Vishal has a proven record of success representing clients such as Qualcomm, NXP Semiconductors, Micron, SK Innovation, J.P. Morgan, Home Depot, McCain Foods, and The NOCO Company in complex and high-stakes patent cases. He also helps clients with building and managing their patent portfolios (including design patents), negotiating and executing licensing and joint development deals, avoiding litigation risks, and conducting IP due diligence in connection with product launch, financing, acquisition, and public offering transactions. Clients appreciate Vishal's ability to craft innovative strategies and deliver practical solutions that lead to successful outcomes.
Before becoming a lawyer, Vishal designed power plants, developed software, and optimized cellular networks for wireless carriers. Vishal also serves on the Washington Office Recruiting Committee.
