Karim Tarantino advises French and international clients on complex ESG (environmental, social, and governance), climate change, and environmental law matters under French, EU, and international law. He has particular experience in climate litigation and greenwashing matters, assisting clients in high-profile proceedings in France and abroad and advising them on the litigation and regulatory risks associated with their climate strategies, sustainability commitments, and environmental communications.

His practice includes a strong focus on the legal and evidentiary aspects of technically complex climate issues. He regularly works on matters involving greenhouse gas emissions accounting, climate scenarios and transition pathways, emissions-reduction targets, carbon budgets, and the methodologies and scientific materials relied upon in climate-related claims. He assists clients in understanding and translating these technical considerations into robust legal arguments, compliance strategies, and clear and legally sound climate-related communications.

Karim also has significant experience in industrial and product-related crisis management. He assists clients in responding to major industrial accidents, operational incidents, environmental and health concerns, and product-related issues, including in their dealings with regulatory and judicial authorities. His work covers the legal, regulatory, communications, technical expert, and litigation dimensions of crisis response, as well as the coordination of the civil, administrative, and criminal proceedings that may arise.

More broadly, Karim advises on industrial risks, polluted sites and soils, chemical substances, and product regulation, particularly under REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) and EU frameworks, and the operation of industrial facilities. He assists clients at every stage of the life cycle of classified facilities (development, operation, modification, and closure) and represents them in civil, administrative, and criminal proceedings.
