Ninth graders debate cyberbullying problem
Client(s) John A. Brashear High School
As part of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Minority Law Day outreach initiative, five associates from Jones Day Pittsburgh facilitated a debate among ninth graders at John A. Brashear High School regarding cyberbullying. Jones Day Pittsburgh associates talked with nearly 90 students in the Beechview neighborhood about legal careers and presented a mock cyberbullying problem for assessment and debate. The students actively participated in the program, as they debated whether a student should be disciplined for creating a website criticizing a teacher, while the Jones Day Pittsburgh associates facilitated discussion and moderated debate. The program was well-received by students and staff.
