Jones Day partner Lexi Smith named to Los Angeles Business Journal's list of "Top 100 Lawyers of Los Angeles 2026"

Lexi Smith, a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice, has been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal's list of "Top 100 Lawyers of Los Angeles 2026." The list honors attorneys whose work is shaping business in Los Angeles; these leaders set the standard for excellence in law.

Lexi's practice spans a broad range of intellectual property and business disputes, including patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, licensing disputes, trademark and copyright infringement, false advertising, unfair competition, breach of contract, and related torts.

Lexi has significant trial and arbitration experience in IP-related matters. This past year, she helped a leading e-cigarette company secure a favorable initial determination in a patent infringement investigation before the International Trade Commission. She drove the team's efforts on remedies, and presented evidence that persuaded the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) to recommend a general exclusion order—excluding respondents' and third parties' infringing products alike— and cease-and-desist orders against all domestic respondents with substantial infringing inventory.  In 2024, Lexi led our trial team's efforts on damages in a patent infringement case for Los Angeles-based client Puma Biotechnology Inc. against AstraZeneca, which resulted in a unanimous jury verdict of over $100 million in our clients' favor. Lexi has also successfully handled patent license disputes, including an arbitration for a leading gene therapy company and its former licensee that resulted in Jones Day's client receiving a unanimous award for the full amount sought.
