Jones Day's Jim Saywell Named to Crain's Cleveland Business's 2025 "40 Under 40" List

Jones Day partner Jim Saywell was named to Crain's Cleveland Business's 2025 40 Under 40 list, which recognizes rising leaders who are making a significant impact in Northeast Ohio.

A Cleveland native and former law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Mr. Saywell focuses on appellate advocacy and critical motions. He has particular experience in class and collective actions; constitutional, statutory, and contract interpretation; and litigation involving emerging issues such as PFAS. Recent successes include securing a complete victory for University Hospitals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where the court dismissed tortious interference claims, and prevailing for Cleveland-Cliffs in a matter that set a key precedent for maintaining the confidentiality of judicial records. Mr. Saywell also serves the community through mentorship and civic leadership, including serving on the board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.

Jones Day is a global law firm with 2,500 lawyers in 40 offices across five continents. The Firm is distinguished by: a singular tradition of client service; the mutual commitment to, and the seamless collaboration of, a true partnership; formidable legal talent across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions; and shared professional values that focus on client needs.
