Ethiopian client receives asylum after suffering political persecution
Client(s) N.
After a three-year wait, an Ethiopian client received asylum on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. N. fled Ethiopia in 2013 following imprisonment, beatings, and death threats on account of her political activities (and the activities of her family members). Jones Day filed her asylum papers in summer 2014. Due to the extensive delays in the system, N.'s asylum interview was not scheduled until May 2017. She received asylum shortly thereafter, and looks forward to being able to bring her children to safety in the United States.
