City of Hope licenses cell-penetrating technology to affiliate of Sorrento Therapeutics

Jones Day advised City of Hope in connection with an exclusive license granted to LA Cell, Inc., a company formed by Sorrento Therapeutics Inc. The newly formed company, LA Cell, will combine COH's cell-penetrating technology with Sorrento's fully human antibody library and immunotherapy expertise to enable the development of effective antibody therapies against crucial yet elusive intracellular targets. The total deal value exceeded $170 million and included the grant of equity to City of Hope as well as up front and milestone payments.
