Newpark seeks temporary restraining order against oil and gas company to prevent destruction of property and spoliation of evidence

Client(s) Newpark Resources, Inc.

Jones Day filed a petition and application for temporary restraining order in Harris County District Court against an international oil and gas company to prevent the destruction of Newpark Mats and Integrated Service LLC's property. The oil and gas company planned to conduct destructive testing on industrial mats owned by Newpark that were on the site of a gas well explosion and fire in Ohio. Newpark asserted that the imminent destructive testing constituted conversion, trespass to chattels, and spoliation of evidence. Newpark successfully resolved the dispute prior to the temporary restraining order hearing.
