Bunge and Solazyme to jointly develop process for making oil from sugar cane juice and algae

Jones Day assisted Bunge North America, Inc. in the negotiation and preparation of a Joint Development Agreement with Solazyme related to the development of an algae strain to produce triglyceride oils in Brazil using sugar cane juice feedstock. Simultaneously, Bunge was granted a warrant for the purchase of shares of stock of Solazyme conditioned on achieving certain milestone events, including the establishment of a joint venture in Brazil to commercialize the technology.
