Constellation defends against complaint brought before Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Jones Day successfully defended Constellation Energy Commodities Group, Inc. ("CCG") against a complaint brought before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by Richard Blumenthal, Attorney General of Connecticut, the Connecticut Office of Consumer Counsel, and the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control alleging that CCG's conduct in the New England power market constituted unlawful market manipulation. This proceeding was the first instance in which FERC had authorized a private party to litigate a market manipulation claim arising under Section 222 of the Federal Power Act.
