Jones Day of counsel Jocelyn Yu, Ph.D., and associate Nicholas Hodges have been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as 2025 Leaders of Influence in Law, which honors influential leaders by acknowledging their contributions and commitment to San Diego and the surrounding communities.
Dr. Yu is an intellectual property lawyer with more than 12 years of experience advising life sciences clients. Highly regarded for her strategic insight and deep technical knowledge in the biopharma industry, Jocelyn crafts tailored IP and patent strategies that align with therapeutic pipeline development. Jocelyn is also a trusted advisor on technology transactions, IP licensing, and cross-border collaborations, particularly between the U.S. and Asia. She has led global patent portfolio development, conducted high-stakes due diligence, and led major transactions for many biotech companies and pharmaceutical industry leaders such as BMS/Celgene, Merck & Co., and Johnson & Johnson.
Mr. Hodges represents public and private companies in high-stakes litigation and government investigations nationwide, with extensive experience across all phases of litigation, including trials, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution, resolving matters involving trade secrets, the federal False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), breach of contract, and unfair competition, among others. Nick regularly represents San Diego clients. For example, he was on the trial team for Qualcomm in its multifaceted litigation against Apple, and he represented MedImpact in a trade secret dispute with IQVIA. Nick clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego.
