
Jones Day welcomes former health care fraud prosecutor to Health Care & Life Sciences Practice in San Francisco
David DeVito has joined Jones Day as of counsel in its Health Care & Life Sciences Practice, based in the Firm's San Francisco Office.
Mr. DeVito has experience working in both private practice and as a government attorney on a wide range of commercial litigation disputes. For the past seven years, he has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, most recently in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California, where he was Deputy Chief of the Civil Division and Chief of the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Unit. He oversaw the Office's affirmative civil case portfolio, with a concentration on health care fraud and cybersecurity matters, and supervised the Office's handling of False Claims Act investigations and litigation. Mr. DeVito also has experience working as a litigator at major law firms, representing clients in health care fraud, bankruptcy, insurance coverage, and other commercial disputes.

Prior to his working experience as a lawyer, Mr. DeVito's legal career began in the Bay Area as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Arthur S. Weissbrodt at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose. He earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and his undergraduate degree from New York University.
