Andrew J.Urko

Andrew Urko represents clients at all stages of complex civil litigation in federal and state courts. He has extensive experience in developing factual records through discovery, researching complex legal issues, and drafting briefs and motions. He has secured clients favorable results ranging from dispositive motions to appellate court decisions.

Andrew has represented and advised clients across the bottling, coatings, commercial sales, health care, information services, manufacturing, and utility industries. His experience includes advising clients on litigation risks, defending clients against preliminary injunction motions, enforcing clients' arbitration rights, deposing fact witnesses, and drafting briefs and motions on complicated legal matters. Andrew was part of a team that secured a dismissal of claims filed by two Pennsylvania counties against The Sherwin-Williams Company seeking to hold paint manufacturers liable for lead-based paints and pigments as an alleged public nuisance.

Andrew maintains an active pro bono practice, including successfully mediating an individual's civil rights claims as part of the Western District of Pennsylvania's Pro Se Pro Bono Mediation Program.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Andrew served as a law clerk to Judge Peter J. Phipps of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and to Judge Nora Barry Fischer of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
