Alex McDonald represents clients in complex civil and criminal cases in federal and state courts. His experience includes matters involving commercial disputes, consumer class actions, securities fraud and shareholder derivative actions, whistleblower claims, and internal and government investigations. His work spans multiple stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions practice, and appeals. He also advises clients on a wide range of regulatory matters, including nuanced issues of federal and state laws under various statutory and regulatory frameworks.
Prior to rejoining Jones Day in 2024, Alex completed a two-year clerkship with Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Alex maintains an active pro bono practice. He has worked on multiple trial teams for clients seeking asylum through the Firm's Border Project. He also has assisted individuals in sealing their criminal records through the Georgia Justice Project and has represented tenants in disputes with their landlords through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
Before attending law school, Alex worked as a consultant and completed performance improvement projects for health care clients across the United States.
