Demetra Karamanos represents public and private companies and private equity firms in complex domestic and cross-border transactions. Demetra's practice focuses on M&A, carve-out divestitures, joint ventures, take privates, special committee transactions, securities transactions, and corporate governance. She also counsels public companies on securities matters, private equity firms in their investments, and investment banking firms in their capacity as financial advisors.
Demetra advises domestic and foreign clients in a broad range of industries, including health care, pharmaceuticals, energy, telecommunications, consumer goods and retail, media and entertainment, and financial services. She has worked on substantial matters for Procter & Gamble, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Twin River Worldwide Holdings, and PHH Corporation. Prior to joining Jones Day, she advised Allergan, Anthem, Safeway, Odyssey Investment Partners, Books-A-Million, J.P. Morgan Securities, and Dish Network, among others, in a number of significant transactions.
Demetra is an active member of the Women's Initiative in Jones Day's New York Office and served as a coordinator for the 2018 New York Summer Associate Program. She is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
