Danny Johnson focuses his practice on navigating complex litigation and regulatory challenges at the trial and appellate levels. He is a former law clerk to Justice Barrett and a member of Jones Day's nationally recognized Issues & Appeals Practice.

Danny has helped Jones Day clients and trial teams develop and implement winning litigation strategies. Danny has, for instance, helped a biotech company win a $107.5 million patent infringement verdict against an established competitor, developed a strategy for a corporation with significant legacy liabilities to overcome regulatory limits on its insurance recovery, and helped a university navigate claims arising from campus protests. He has led pivotal briefing for Jones Day teams in state and federal trial courts as well as in the federal courts of appeals.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Danny represented a state government as a plaintiff in a complex and high-profile nuisance case, which — after a multiweek jury trial — resulted in a favorable settlement valued at more than $600 million. Danny has argued multiple motions and tried a case to verdict before a jury.

Danny serves as a guest lecturer in an annual writing seminar for engineering undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2023, he was selected as a Temple Bar Scholar by the American Inns of Court. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers as "Ones to Watch" for his appellate practice.
