Catarina Freitas represents public and private companies on domestic and cross-border M&A, joint venture, and private equity transactions. She has experience in a broad range of industries, including energy, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, aviation, and hospitality.

Catarina has worked with multiple clients, such as CoLift, TotalEnergies, WEG, Ansys, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Sanofi, Twilio, and Signature Aviation, in complex multijurisdictional transactions.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Catarina was an associate in the corporate practice at a leading full-service Brazilian law firm where she advised Brazilian, European, Asian, and U.S. companies in M&A, structuring investments in Brazil, and in general corporate matters.

Catarina is committed to Jones Day's diversity efforts and pro bono service, representing clients in immigration and divorce matters. In 2022, she won her first asylum case for a Venezuelan client. During law school she also worked as an intern at the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project in Florence, Arizona.
