Pierre Bechmann's experience covers a broad range of areas, including corporate and commercial matters, real estate and environmental law, and product liability litigation. He has represented clients in the chemical and nuclear sectors in international product safety investigations and litigation and in several major industrial accidents.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Pierre led a team in a six-year criminal investigation, civil expert proceedings, and subsequent trial that resulted in a truck manufacturer being acquitted from charges of unintentional manslaughter following the deaths of 39 people in the 1999 Mont Blanc Tunnel fire. He also represented a utility in connection with civil proceedings instigated by environmental activists against its nuclear plant near Bordeaux and obtained dismissal of the claim; represented members of the European synthetic mineral fiber industry during an eight-year long investigation of the toxicological and epidemiological data of its products; and acted for a cement manufacturing company in connection with the challenge filed by environmental activists against the manufacturer's operating permit in northern France. Pierre's international career also includes working in Tokyo for two years where he represented Japanese investors in Europe as well as European companies doing business in Japan. In addition, he has represented institutional Japanese investors in major real estate transactions in Paris.

Pierre served as Captain of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in Scotland. He is President of his home club (Chantilly, France) and is currently active on the Championship Committee of the European Golf Association and on the Executive Committee of the French Golf Federation.
