Max Binney advises clients on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, corporate governance, and equity capital markets. Most recently, Max has worked on a number of transactions involving impact investment and environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-related matters.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2021, Max acted for: Clarks Shoes on their rescue deal, in particular with the injection of up to £150m of equity from LionRock Capital, and associated restructuring; GB News on the fundraising and launch of the United Kingdom's first major TV news channel in more than 20 years; Arbor Education Partners Group Limited on its £30m sale to The Key Support Services Limited, part of the Darwin Acquisitions Limited group (represented the founders, Social Venture Fund II GmbH & Co KG [SVF] managed by Ananda, Nesta Partners Limited, and other shareholders of Arbor Education); SVF, one of Europe's largest social impact venture funds, and Nesta on an investment round into Third Space Learning, a personalized online math tuition platform; and Recycling Technologies Limited, which turns hard-to-recycle plastics into an oil used for new plastic production, on their EUR 10 million Series A part-closure (investors included Neste Oyj and Althelia Sustainable Ocean Fund SICAV-SIF).
