Community hospital resolves investigation regarding medical necessity of cardiology procedures

Jones Day represented a community hospital in an investigation by the Department of Justice and HHS OIG. The investigation resulted from two qui tam cases and was related to false claims in connection with the medical necessity of interventional cardiac procedures. After a lengthy investigation, Jones Day was able to resolve the matter with the repayment of agreed single damages with interest. There were no criminal charges and no corporate integrity agreement.
