Imerys merger with Kerneos receives antitrust clearance

Jones Day represented Imerys S.A., a multinational manufacturer of industrial minerals, on the antitrust aspects of its €880 million acquisition of Kerneos, a global producer and supplier of specialty cements. The deal aims at broadening Imerys’ specialty offering in industrial minerals markets, and in particular the growing building chemistry segment.

The transaction was unconditionally cleared by the European Commission after a Phase I investigation, as well as by the U.S., Russian, Ukrainian, and South African competition authorities.
