Mentor wins complete defense verdict after trial in case alleging injuries caused by ObTape

Client(s) Mentor Corporation

The Plaintiff in this case asserted negligence and failure to warn claims against Jones Day client Mentor Corporation, alleging that she had suffered injuries due to ObTape, a surgically-implanted mesh sling used for treatment of stress urinary incontinence. After a six-week trial, the jury returned a complete defense verdict. The plaintiff's counsel requested compensatory damages in excess of $2 million during closing argument and also sought punitive damages.
