Welcome to the Amsterdam Office
With the opening of the Amsterdam Office in 2013, Jones Day confirmed its commitment to secure local talent, experience, and knowledge in key business and financial centers as part of its internationally integrated offering to clients.
Amsterdam is headquarters to more than 1,800 major corporations serving markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Amsterdam also serves as headquarters for a substantial number of leading Dutch companies. Our lawyers are fully integrated into the Firm’s global organization of more than 2,400 lawyers in offices in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. This integration affords our clients seamless access to all the Firm's substantial legal resources around the world.
Joining Jones Day’s Amsterdam Office means working in an environment that emphasizes cooperation and teamwork, and collaborating on teams drawn from the Firm's offices across the world. Our lawyers advise on some of the world's most demanding and complex matters, and new lawyers are given the opportunity to contribute from their very first day with the Firm.
Our strengths in Amsterdam reflect the Firm's vast cross-border transactional and disputes experience. We focus on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, technology transactions, litigation and arbitration, antitrust, tax, labor and employment, employee benefits and executive compensation, business restructuring and reorganization, and investigations & while collar defense.
Jones Day Amsterdam fills entry-level new lawyer positions with graduates who are former trainees with the Firm.
New lawyers attend the New Lawyer Academy, an annual event held in Washington, D.C. Each fall, new lawyers assemble from our more than 40 offices around the world to meet and network with each other and learn what it means to be One Firm Worldwide. Our Firm leaders, partner, and associates teach the new lawyers about Jones Day's culture, history, organization, and achievements and lead substantive and interactive training sessions. Every year, our new lawyers take away from the Academy a sense of great pride and excitement about being part of the Firm.

Trainees are vitally important to the future of the Firm. Amsterdam Office trainees have the opportunity to begin building and shaping their careers as international lawyers. We seek exceptional individuals from Dutch universities who are ready to seize opportunities, are enthusiastic about our culture and clients, and, given support, will carve out a career for themselves.
Trainees work under a partner's supervision in a cooperative environment, as part of an interdisciplinary team. All trainees take part in The Netherlands Bar Association's formal training program. Jones Day participates in the Law Firm School. Trainees also take part in the Jones Day training program.
