Jones Day Advises on Transit Project Transaction Named Urban Transport Deal of the Year by Latin Finance

Jones Day advised the Government of Mexico City on a matter awarded “Urban Transport Deal of the Year” in Latin Finance’s 2026 Project & Infrastructure Awards. The Firm counseled on the issuance of MXN 3 billion (approximately USD 166 million) in green bonds.

Jones Day partner Arturo de la Parra, with the assistance of associate Gustavo Alvarado, led a transaction team that structured a landmark, sustainable financing transaction that established an innovative capital markets platform for large-scale urban infrastructure development in Mexico.

Bond proceeds will be directed to the development of Mexico City’s new Cablebús Lines 5 and 6, new aerial transit projects under construction as part of a major infrastructure expansion, expected to provide significant social and environmental benefits by improving mobility options for densely populated communities while contributing to lower emissions.

The Mexico City green bond structure uniquely combines ESG-labeled financing, structured credit enhancement mechanisms, and a high-impact public mobility project within a single integrated platform.
