Jones Day in Taipei, unlike other global firms in Taiwan, has attorneys who are experienced and legally qualified to practice both U.S. and Taiwan law. Our lawyers in Taipei work in close collaboration, as part of a seamlessly integrated team, with colleagues from Jones Day offices throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Our growing Asia presence also includes Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and two offices in Mainland China (Beijing and Shanghai).

Although Jones Day Taipei does not host a traditional summer associate program, we do seek US JD students who have completed their second year of study for summer internships. All of our interns must be able to communicate well in both English and Chinese.
The Taipei Office hires several junior level lawyers each year. Preferred candidates will have at least one or two years of legal experience and an LLM degree.
We welcome Taiwan-qualified lawyers with advanced degrees from universities in Taiwan or abroad. We sometimes have positions for experienced lawyers with advanced degrees from the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia. Occasionally, we hire US JD lawyers who are not qualified in Taiwan, mostly for our cross-border transactional practice. While we do not require English as a first language, because of our "One Firm Worldwide" structure, all of our lawyers must be able to communicate well in English.
New lawyers will attend the New Lawyer Academy, an annual event held in Washington, D.C. Each fall, new lawyers assembled from the Firm's 40 offices around the world to meet and network with each other and learn what it means to be One Firm Worldwide. Our Firm leaders, partners, and associates educate the new lawyers about Jones Day's culture, history, organization, and achievements and lead substantive and interactive training sessions. Every year, our new lawyers take away from the Academy a sense of great pride and excitement about being part of the Firm.
