Jones Day announced that Sarah Blazek, a deeply experienced German and EU antitrust, state aid / subsidies and FDI lawyer, has joined the Firm in Munich.
Ms. Blazek's practice focuses on all areas of competition law. Her recent work notably includes advising on complex proceedings in regulated industries and on large-scale mergers and projects such as Northvolt, Japan Pulp & Paper, and Condor. Ms. Blazek's practice also focuses on the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation. She practices competition law before both German authorities and the European Commission and courts. Accordingly, Ms. Blazek will be closely involved in the Firm's pan-European practice with a regular presence in Brussels.

"Sarah is a great addition to the Firm and makes our German and European competition practice even stronger across the board," said Alexandre Verheyden, co-leader of Jones Day's Antitrust & Competition Law Practice. "Germany is host to some of the EU's largest manufacturing companies and a strong bench of German qualified competition partners is an important part of the Firm's continued growth throughout Europe."
Ms. Blazek adds: "Jones Day combines outstanding antitrust and state-aid experience with a consistently integrated European and international presence. In particular, the close integration of the German practice with the strongly positioned Brussels team offers clients seamless advice on complex and cross-border proceedings – which is a very exciting opportunity.
