Michael Platt is a trial lawyer with a national litigation practice focusing on complex commercial litigation and high-stakes business disputes. He has served as lead counsel in federal and state courts across the country, as well as in arbitration forums, representing clients in matters involving contract claims, business torts, class actions, fiduciary duty litigation, and product liability claims. Michael is known for delivering decisive victories in challenging cases, including obtaining complete dismissals, favorable settlements, and trial wins. He is frequently called upon to handle "bet-the-company" litigation and expedited proceedings involving significant financial exposure across a wide range of industries.
Michael has handled matters for some of the nation's most prominent companies, such as CrossCountry Mortgage, Macy's, The Timken Company, Owens Corning, Cleveland-Cliffs, CSX, and KeyCorp. He has successfully defended and prosecuted claims for these clients in jurisdictions nationwide, including recent victories in cases involving allegations of employee poaching, breach of contract, and misappropriation of trade secrets. Michael is also highly experienced in arbitration, having first-chaired and second-chaired trials that resulted in favorable outcomes. In addition to his litigation work, he regularly advises clients on prelitigation disputes and litigation aspects of a wide array of transactional matters.
Beyond his practice, Michael is committed to legal education and community service. He has served as an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he taught complex litigation. Michael also serves on the board of directors for Dress for Success Cleveland.
