Mathis Bredimus focuses his practice on cross-border M&A and joint venture transactions. He has advised clients across a wide range of industries, including automotive, chemicals, oil and gas, infrastructure, steel, logistics, real estate, and financial services.
Recent matters include advising: Geely on the creation of a €7 billion joint venture with Renault for the purpose of developing, manufacturing, and supplying hybrid and internal combustion engine powertrains; Mapei on the acquisition of Bitumat, a Saudi manufacturer of waterproofing materials; Macquarie Asset Management on the execution of a put option agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Suez Recycling and Recovery UK Group for €2.4 billion; and Macquarie Asset Management, via Macquarie GIG Renewable Energy Fund 2 SCSp, on its acquisition of 50% of Enel Green Power Hellas from Enel Green Power S.p.A. for an enterprise value of approximately €980 million.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2021, Mathis worked in the Brussels and Luxembourg offices of international law firms, where he advised, among many others, the corporate ventures arm of Shell on its investment in German freight forwarding start-up InstaFreight; the shareholders of Greek logistics company Makios on H.I.G. Capital's investment in the business; Solvay and Umicore on the sale of their stakes in joint venture SolviCore to Toray Industries; and French cinema operator UGC on the acquisition of Utopolis Belgium from Kinepolis.
Mathis is the author of publications on various topics including warranties in share purchase agreements, company director duties, and the EU Market Abuse Regulation.
