Jones Day's Sam Lioi appointed to Sixth Circuit Advisory Committee on Rules
Sam Lioi, an associate in the Firm's Issues & Appeals Practice, was appointed to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals' Advisory Committee on Rules. The committee comprises 12 members appointed by the chief judge, and includes three members from each state in the circuit, at least one member from each district in the circuit, and broad representation of all aspects of litigation practiced before the court. The committee advises the judges on the court's internal rules and procedures.
Mr. Lioi has experience in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels and on a range of substantive areas, including constitutional and administrative law, complex commercial and health care disputes, public nuisance, and other business torts. He recently delivered arguments in a Seventh Circuit appeal, securing a significant appellate victory for a pro bono client.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2022, Mr. Lioi served as a law clerk for Chief Judge Jeffrey Sutton and Judge Eric Murphy at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
