John Tomes advises clients on all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, with a practice spanning financing and refinancing for lenders, private capital providers and borrowers, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, and leasing throughout the United States. He has broad sector experience across hospitality, multifamily — including student housing and seniors housing —office, industrial, and retail.
John has significant real estate finance experience representing lenders and borrowers, and he also has experience in loan restructurings, workouts, and other transactions involving nonperforming loans. His recent transactions include representing an international private equity real estate firm on single-asset, single-borrower (SASB) commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) financing for iconic resorts in Arizona and Florida; representing a hospitality investment and development firm on a term and renovation loan for a ski resort in Wyoming; and representing a leading financial institution as administrative agent and lead arranger on a syndicated secured revolving credit facility to an outdoor recreation company.
John also regularly handles real property aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and leasing, and advises real estate companies on corporate matters.
John is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
