Ryan Ball represents public and private companies in complex litigation and government investigations throughout the United States. He has been recognized by Law360 as one of the top five class action lawyers in the country under 40.

Ryan is at the forefront of cybersecurity and privacy litigation involving large-scale cybersecurity attacks, data collection and tracking technologies, dark patterns, unfair and deceptive practices, and other consumer protection issues. He has successfully led the defense of numerous nationwide class actions and mass arbitrations under myriad state and federal privacy statutes, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, and California Invasion of Privacy Act. Ryan has also represented clients in responding to dozens of government investigations, including from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the California Privacy Protection Agency, the New York Department of Financial Services, and state attorneys general.

Ryan has twice received the Daily Journal's "Top Defense Verdict" of the year in California. In 2023, he led the defense of one of the largest data breach cases ever to proceed to trial, successfully arguing an issue of first impression that led to the complete dismissal of the case. In 2021, Ryan successfully argued and obtained summary judgment in a high-stakes trade secrets dispute involving the development of complex loss forecast models.

In addition, Ryan regularly advises clients on emerging technologies, data collection and analytics, fintech, and related legal and regulatory risks. He also serves as the New Lawyers Coordinator in Irvine.
