Christine Borries advises on German and international insolvency law, corporate restructurings (including insolvency plans, self-administration proceedings, and StaRUG proceedings), as well as related issues under commercial, procedural, and financing law. She focuses on supporting corporations as well as other stakeholders in crisis and other special situations, particularly in the context of cross-border restructurings. She also has in-depth experience advising on distressed M&A and insolvency-related clawback and liability claims.
Christine joined Jones Day in 2025. Prior to that, she worked for several years in the restructuring team of a large international law firm.
Before joining Jones Day, Christine provided advice to many clients, such as the Chinese Jingsheng Group on the out-of-court restructuring of EMAG, including representation in the StaRUG proceedings. She also advised the shareholder of Saurer, a textile machinery manufacturer, on the withdrawal of an insolvency petition as well as a market leading franchisee of a major American corporation on the withdrawal of its insolvency petition and the renegotiation of franchise agreements. She advised the HR Group on the acquisition of the Success Hotel Group as part of an insolvency plan and advised the Bundesrepublik Deutschland Finanzagentur GmbH on the insolvency plan proceedings for GALERIA Karstadt Kaufhof GmbH.
