Kevin McCarthy represents plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation cases involving a wide variety of technologies, with a particular focus on Hatch-Waxman matters. Kevin has extensive experience in district court litigation, International Trade Court (ITC) investigations, arbitrations, inter partes review and post-grant review proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and appeals before the Federal Circuit. Kevin has litigated more than 20 district court cases and has taken multiple cases to trial in district court and before the ITC, including a billion dollar jury trial win.
Kevin was selected for the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for his work in intellectual property/patent litigation.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Kevin worked as a research chemist at Sterling Lacquer Mfg. Co., where he was responsible for developing proprietary coatings for the commercial and military aerospace industries.
