Thad Lopatka represents clients in a diverse array of complex commercial litigation matters, including insurance recovery proceedings, international arbitrations, restructurings, and patent disputes. He has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, coordinating discovery, working with expert witnesses, preparing for trial, and formulating arguments on appeal.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2022, Thad was involved in the representation of a foreign bank pursuing over $240 million of insurance recovery in federal court in connection with an oil refinery explosion; a pharmaceuticals company in Federal Circuit and Supreme Court appeals relating to patents for insulin formulations and insulin delivery devices; first-lien creditors of an energy services company in connection with its successful chapter 11 reorganization; a pharmaceuticals company in connection with the chapter 11 reorganization of one of its suppliers; and pro bono cases involving immigration and matters through the Innocence Project.
