After appellate victory, immigration client secures termination of removal proceedings

Client(s) Client EV

Jones Day was appointed as pro bono counsel to represent a lawful immigrant petitioning for review of an order of removal from the United States. On the client's behalf, Jones Day successfully argued that the immigration judge misapplied California sentencing law in evaluating removability under the Immigration and Nationality Act.  Jones Day continued to represent the client on remand to the Board of Immigration Appeals, which concluded that the client was not removable as charged and terminated removal proceedings.
