Simon Yu draws on broad experience from prior government service as a district court judge to advise clients on complex litigation matters and strategic business resolutions. His practice focuses on high-stakes disputes across multiple industries, with particular depth in energy, infrastructure, and other regulated sectors.

In recent years, Simon has represented leading international EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractors in complex, high-value energy and infrastructure projects in Taiwan. He advises on a wide range of EPC-related matters, including engineering and construction disputes, international arbitration, engineering accident investigations, and public procurement strategy for major infrastructure developments. These matters are closely connected to Taiwan's ongoing energy transition and regulatory reforms. Drawing on deep technical knowledge and extensive experience in EPC contracting and project execution, Simon supports clients throughout the entire project life cycle, from procurement planning and risk allocation to dispute avoidance and resolution, consistently achieving favorable and commercially significant outcomes.

In addition to his EPC and energy practice, Simon has counseled clients in numerous high-tech patent litigations and complex multinational disputes involving white-collar crime, trade secret protection, employment issues, and competition law. His representation in a nationwide food fraud investigation earned him recognition as one of the few leading lawyers in the field of large-scale risk management.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Simon served as a district court judge for 10 years, sitting in criminal, civil, and intellectual property tribunals, and was twice recognized for excellence in trial performance. In 2005, he was sponsored by the Judicial Yuan to pursue an advanced law degree at New York University.

Simon is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, and Taiwanese.
