William Morgan advises public and private companies, as well as real asset funds, in complex UK and cross-border transactions. He acts for clients on private equity and M&A mandates within the energy and infrastructure sectors, including acquisitions, disposals, investments, and joint ventures. He also provides advice on commercial, development, and project financing matters. William has experience in oil and gas and energy transition projects in developed and emerging markets.

William's experience prior to joining Jones Day in 2025 includes advising a major integrated energy company on the disposal of its interest in a CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) power plant in Spain, Mitsui & Co. on its acquisition of STATS (UK), Serica Energy on its acquisition of Tailwind Energy, Gran Tierra on its recommended takeover of I3 Energy and subsequent disposal of Gran Tierra North Sea, JAPEX on its UKCS (United Kingdom Continental Shelf) divestment, and a number of M&A transactions in Nigeria and Brazil. He also has advised Encyclis on the development and project financing of the Walsall Energy-from-Waste (EfW) Facility in the West Midlands, England and IFC, JBIC, NEXI, and the commercial lenders on the project financing of the Syrdarya II CCGT power plant in Uzbekistan.

In 2023, William served a secondment in Tokyo, Japan.
