Aurélien Lenaerts has extensive experience advising clients on the tax aspects of M&A transactions, private equity investments, fund structuring, corporate reorganizations, financing operations, and equity incentive plans. Aurélien also represents clients before the Belgian tax authorities involving matters such as advance tax ruling procedures and litigation.

Aurélien takes a pragmatic approach to tax matters, focusing on turning complex issues into clear and practical solutions. He regularly assists international and domestic clients across a wide range of sectors, ensuring that his advice not only addresses legal requirements but also supports clients' strategic and operational objectives. His multidisciplinary understanding of corporate, real estate, and financial law allows him to deliver actionable guidance on transactions with a tax dimension.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Aurélien advised Engie and Electrabel in their negotiations with the Belgian State regarding extending the operation of two nuclear power plants by 10 years.

In addition, Aurélien is a teaching assistant in tax law at the Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles).
