Colin Devinant est spécialisé dans le contentieux national et international de brevets d’invention. Il a travaillé sur des dossiers contentieux et non contentieux en France et à l'étranger (Allemagne, États-Unis, Royaume-Uni) pour des start-up et des groupes internationaux, impliquant des brevets dans de nombreux domaines techniques (mécanique, chimie, électronique, cosmétiques, emballages, transports, produits de consommation, dispositifs médicaux, produits agrochimiques, construction, biosimilaires et génériques).

Colin Devinant se concentre principalement sur les litiges relatifs à la validité et à la contrefaçon de brevets, ainsi que sur la rémunération des inventions de salariés et les actions en revendication de propriété de brevets. Il rédige et négocie régulièrement des accords de confidentialité, de licence, de recherche et de transfert de technologie et effectue également des opérations d’audit en matière de propriété intellectuelle à l'appui de fusions et acquisitions et d'opérations de capital-investissement.

Avant de rejoindre Jones Day en 2018, Colin Devinant a pratiqué le contentieux des brevets et l’audit en matière de propriété intellectuelle au sein du bureau parisien d'un cabinet d'avocats international basé aux États-Unis et a effectué un stage dans un grand cabinet français de contentieux de brevets à Paris. Son expérience antérieure comprend également un stage au sein du service juridique de la propriété intellectuelle d'une grande université de recherche française, au sein duquel il a rédigé et négocié des accords de R&D, ainsi que pour un cabinet français de conseils de propriété industrielle.

Colin Devinant est l'auteur de plusieurs publications traitant des litiges en matière de brevets, notamment en ce qui concerne les brevets logiciels, les médicaments génériques et la Juridiction Unifiée des Brevets.

Il est membre de l'Association internationale pour la protection de la propriété intellectuelle (AIPPI) et de l'Association française pour la protection de la propriété intellectuelle (AFPPI).

Il est chargé de cours au programme intensif du barreau de Cape Sup à Lyon, où il est responsable de la préparation des candidats élèves-avocats à l'examen oral final en anglais.
