Ephraim Abreu advises clients in high-stakes litigation and government enforcement actions.
His experience includes defending and counseling multinational corporations in connection with Helms‑Burton Act claims. He has analyzed and advised on disputes before they reach formal litigation, managed and negotiated discovery, and drafted and argued dispositive motions in federal court. His multilingual abilities are an asset to clients; he has handled matters in Spanish and Portuguese on cross-border matters.
Prior to rejoining the Firm in 2025, Ephraim served as an enforcement attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he led investigations into potential violations of the federal securities laws. That experience informs his approach to internal investigations and regulatory responses, including interactions with the SEC and other regulators.
At the same time, Ephraim maintains an active pro bono practice. He currently represents an individual in habeas corpus proceedings, has assisted dozens of migrants in detention facilities on the U.S.-Mexico border with navigating the asylum process, and has obtained criminal record expungements for a human trafficking survivor.
Before practicing law, Ephraim worked as a junior banker serving Latin American clients at a major financial institution, where he held FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
