Level 3 Communications obtains antitrust clearance for acquisition of tw telecom

Jones Day represented Level 3 Communications, Inc. before the U.S. Department of Justice in its $5.7 billion acquisition of tw telecom Inc. Both companies provide customers with telecommunications services and Internet access in the U.S. This transaction combined Level 3’s robust intercity network with tw telecom’s complementary networks serving metro areas around the U.S., giving Level 3 customers better access to local service and tw telecom enterprise customers access to the Level 3 nationwide and international network. The combination was closely reviewed by DOJ, the Federal Communications Commission, and other agencies.
