Landlord successfully obtains full dismissal in defense of breach of contract suit

Jones Day successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of the client in a breach of contract and injunction action brought by the purchasers of a piece of commercial property. In August 2011, two plaintiffs filed suit against a landlord after she attempted to foreclose on the property. That lawsuit resulted in a settlement agreement, which the plaintiffs later claimed the landlord had breached. The alleged breach resulted in a new lawsuit in which Jones Day was called upon to help. Jones Day immediately implemented a strategy to prepare both the record for summary judgment and the case for trial, arguing that no breach occurred. After full briefing and oral argument at the summary judgment hearing, Jones Day's strategy paid off with a complete victory for the client.
