Tenants facing substandard housing conditions in the District of Columbia obtain a favorable settlement

As part of Jones Day's initiative to ensure decent and affordable housing in Washington, D.C., Jones Day attorneys represented a group of tenants facing substandard housing conditions and closure of their apartment building in settlement negotiations with their landlord. As a result of those negotiations, Jones Day obtained substantial compensation for the tenants, including the recovery of past rent paid despite the existence of housing code violations as well as a significant cash payment and paid relocation expenses to enable the tenants to move into safe and decent housing.
