Jones Day’s Shireen Matthews Named to San Diego Business Journal’s 2026 Women of Influence in Law

Jones Day partner Shireen Matthews has been named to the San Diego Business Journal's 2026 Women of Influence in Law. This list honors influential women in law whose leadership and expertise continue to shape San Diego's legal community.

Ms. Matthews is the Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's San Diego Office and a member of the Firm's Investigations & White Collar Defense Practice. A former federal prosecutor, Ms. Matthews served as the Criminal Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego, where she prosecuted violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and criminal false claims matters. At Jones Day, she helps companies defend against government investigations and works closely with clients to build and enhance corporate compliance programs.

An engaged community leader, Ms. Matthews serves on the Board of Trustees of Scripps Health and the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of San Diego. She recently served as Chair of the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel and is a past president of the San Diego Chapters of the South Asian Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. As a first-generation lawyer, Ms. Matthews is a staunch believer in mentorship, working closely with law-school students and junior attorneys.
