Haytham Soliman focuses his intellectual property practice on patent litigation before the district courts, the Federal Circuit, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Haytham brings a notable blend of experience to client matters. Before joining Jones Day, Haytham spent a decade as a primary patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), examining patent applications in the chemical and metallurgy fields. His commitment to grasping complex scientific principles was recognized by his peers within his Art Unit at the Patent Office. Haytham also clerked for the PTAB, where he worked closely with multiple administrative patent judges in drafting decisions for inter partes review (IPR) cases and ex parte appeals. During this time, he was exposed to diverse PTAB-related issues, gaining invaluable insights into the nuances of post-grant proceedings. As part of his clerkship, Haytham worked alongside solicitors at the USPTO's Office of the Solicitor, contributing to litigation matters before the Eastern District of Virginia and the Federal Circuit. This unique experience gave him a deep understanding of the inner workings of various USPTO units and a broader perspective on the intricate relationship between patent prosecution and enforcement.

Haytham is an active member of professional associations, including the PTAB Bar Association, the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association (HIPLA), the American Association of Patent Judges, and the Atlas Inn of Court.
