Jeff Ruskin represents private equity real estate funds, financial institutions, real estate investment trusts, family offices, and real estate developers in complex, high-value real estate and real estate financing transactions.

Jeff delivers solution-oriented execution of sophisticated negotiations and agreements for leading real estate players. Jeff's real estate debt practice includes representing clients in the origination of commercial mortgage loans, construction loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, and other structured financings, with extensive experience handling secondary market transactions, loan-on-loan arrangements, complex workouts, and the negotiation of intercreditor and co-lender agreements.

In addition to his real estate finance work, Jeff advises clients in the acquisition, development, and disposition of real estate projects, including the negotiation of joint venture agreements and purchase and sale agreements.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Jeff represented the real estate lending platform of a global asset manager in the origination of various mortgage, mezzanine, and constructions loans involving industrial/logistics facilities, retail centers, hotels, and luxury condominium projects; a hospitality-focused real estate fund in the acquisition, development, and financing of hotels nationwide; an insurance company in the origination of a mortgage loan secured by 26 industrial/logistics facilities located across 12 states; a hedge fund in connection with its investment in mobile home parks and manufactured housing communities across the Southeastern United States; and an investment bank in connection with various tax-exempt and taxable bond financings for the development of a minor league baseball stadium, renewable natural gas facilities, and a waterpark.
